DJI releases Phantom X Concept Drone
Watch the DJI Phantom X Concept Drone Video
Similar to the Lily Drone, the DJI Phantom X doesn't need your traditional take off. Just throw the Phantom X into the air and let it capture the magic for you. Capable of following users through winding turns down a bike trail, this concept drone seems to be aware of objects like fallen trees, and dodges them like the breeze. Capturing epic content with current drone models can be limited by pilot experience and skills, so to take that out of the equation seems potentially valuable. Although just flying quadcopters is half of the fun, so hopefully it will still be controllable.
Perhaps one of the coolest features of the DJI Phantom X concept is "multicam syncing", which gives users the ability to sync their smart watch, phone, or tablet up with multiple drones. Sounds crazy right? Well it is, but it's awesome. Flying more than one drone around a stationary or moving subject would give filmmakers incredible new opportunities to tell their story from multiple angles. Hopefully in the future, this technology becomes seamless with video editing software, empowering everyone with the skills of a Hollywood filmmaker.
DJI goes as far to introduce the concept of "sky painting", where you can control your Phanton X through a wearable device on your hands. This is certainly far out, but at least we know the brainstorm sessions over at DJI are not lacking new ideas. From the looks of their YouTube post, they are crowd sourcing ideas from fans on what the future of drone technology should look like.
All in all, a very cool concept, and something we are certainly looking forward to. The future of creative possibilities looks bright!
Stay tuned.
